The People Speak

A friend vacationing in North Carolina sends this. He and his family had chartered a fishing boat. He got into conversation with the captain about the confrontation in Washington. My friend says:

"You have to imagine an old weathered guy who has lived in coastal Carolina all of his life.  Voted for Jesse Helms and always the party ticket.  Old fashioned southern rural republican."

And here's what this old Jesse Helms voter had to say, in a thick Carolina accent:

“Well, I don’t like this Obama fella. But it sure seems to me that every time he gives them what they [the Republicans] want,  they change their minds.  I s’ppose they are like a raccoon that painted himself into a corner.  He would rather chew off his foot than walk over the paint.”
