Politico reports:

The Republican Governors Association raised $22.1 million in the first six months of the year, an RGA official told POLITICO, signaling a strong financial start for the new team that took over at the committee in 2011.

The $22.1 million is a feather in the cap of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who chairs the committee and who is considering a run for the White House , as well as Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, who is the RGA’s vice chairman. The committee has received fundraising support from a number of the first-term Republican governors elected last fall.
