Politico reports:

Speaking to President Hamid Karzai on Wednesday, President Obama condemned a Florida pastor’s burning of the Quran that led to the killing of U.N. workers in Afghanistan, the White House says.

“Both leaders deplored the desecration of the Koran, strongly condemned the April 1 attack on UNAMA in Mazar-e-Sharif and expressed deep regret for the tragic loss of life,” the White House said in a readout of Obama’s video call with Karzai. “The two Presidents were clear that to attack and kill innocent people is an affront to human decency and dignity.”
