Obama Calls Boehner to Push Budget Deal
President Obama called John Boehner to talk about the budget negotiations Wednesday morning, the House speaker's office announced.
Boehner, who spoke with Obama for three minutes, told the president that "he remains hopeful a deal can be reached and that talks would continue," according to a statement from Boehner's office.
Obama promised Tuesday that if Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid didn't reach a deal, he would summon them back to the White House for another meeting. That meeting has yet to be scheduled, and Obama is on his way to Philadelphia and New York.
