Politico reports:

Leading Democratic and Republican congressmen on Sunday downplayed the possibility of pursuing ethics charges against embattled colleague Anthony Weiner, hours after additional racy photos surfaced appearing to show him shirtless and towel-clad in a congressional gym.

“Forcing him out would require a process, ” House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the No. 2 Democrat in the House, told Bob Schieffer, host of CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“Any process – a judicial process through the ethics committee – is going to take time. I really don’t know that we have that time,” Hoyer said, stopping short of calling for Weiner’s resignation, as several top congressional Democrats have.

Weiner, an ambitious New York City Democrat, has indicated he intends to take a leave of absence from his congressional duties to seek treatment related to the online relationships he has carried on with several women to whom he sent sexually explicit electronic photographs of himself.
