Kirk Enters the Ring

It’s official. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) has collected his 10,000 signatures and is officially the newest candidate for United States Senator from the state of Illinois.

Mark Kirk (R-IL) has collected his 10, 000 signatures and is officially the newest candidate for United States Senator from the state of Illinois.  On paper, Congressman Kirk’s credentials are spectacular: Kirk is hypereducated (masters from London School of Economics, J.D. from Georgetown, B.A. from Cornell), a military man (Commander Kirk is a Naval Reserve intelligence officer and has served in Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti, and Bosnia), and has served five terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.  He is also reported to have raised some $2.3 million for the upcoming campaign.  Game on in Illinois.
