AFP reports:

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Paris Monday for meetings with Group of Eight world leaders on the unrest in Libya, an AFP reporter travelling with her said.

The nations are to discuss proposals to impose a no-fly zone over Libya which would aim to ground aircraft of forces loyal to its ruler Moamer Kadhafi which are waging a fierce assault against rebels.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy's office said he and Foreign Minister Alain Juppe would meet with Clinton at 5:00 pm (1600 GMT).

Britain and France have a draft resolution in hand for the UN Security Council to enforce a no-fly zone over Libya. Juppe on Sunday vowed to step up efforts to get the measure approved.

Russia has appeared reluctant and the United States, Germany and Italy have taken a cautious line on intervention.
