On Friday at 8:23 PM, Politico reported that Maria Cino would announce her entry into the race for Republican National Committee chair.

A Politico scoop? Hardly. Our Tim Mak beat Politico by 2 hours:

Tim's scoop was just one in a series of breakout reports on the RNC race.  Tim reported in November that incumbent Chairman Steele might not run for reelection.  Tim was the first to post the Gentry Collins resignation letter.  He was the first to report that Ed Gillespie, the Republican establishment's chairman of the board, would hold a fundraiser for Cino.  Tim also broke the news that Connecticut GOP Chair Chris Healy was out of the race, beating news sources from Healy’s home state.  Tim was the first to note the significance of the long delay in Michael Steele's announcement on whether he will run or not.  And he was the only reporter to get an early list of participants to the FreedomWorks RNC candidates forum.

Throughout this race, Tim has delivered more facts and more background than almost anyone working this particular beat.

Tim is not a person to give himself credit. But his colleagues can say: If you're not reading Tim Mak, you're 2 hours late to the story.
