A source in the Kasich campaign tells me that he believes they're going to pull it off but that they're expecting a longer night. Early votes in suburban Columbus swing counties have Strickland leading which, everyone agrees, is bad for Kasich.

A source in the Ohio Republican Party says that the race for governor is going to be quite close. Kasich's campaign tells him that they believe they will win if total turnout is less than 60 percent. In other words: watch the turnout to know who is going to be the next governor of Ohio. Internal Republican party reports also have it that State Sen. Bob Gibbs seems likely to take down Rep. Zack Space following a very high-spending ($6.2 million) campaign for the seat in Ohio's 18th District.
