At the News International party, I spoke with Prime Minister David Cameron about what would likely happen to the GOP in November.

At the News International party, I complimented Prime Minister Cameron on the frugality of the conference. "I think you are running a much cleaner political system than we do." He answered yes, that it always amazed American visitors to hear that his entire leadership campaign had cost only 150,000 pounds.

We talked about what was likely to happen in November - and then about the possibilities of cooperation or confrontation in Congress in January. I asked whether he'd copyrighted the "Freedom, Fairness, Responsibility" slogan or whether Republicans could use it too. It seems unfair to quote what people say in private conversation, but on that last point: the material's in the public domain, if only the Republicans would borrow it.
