Will Egypt's Revolution Go Global? No

Glenn Beck believes discontent in the Arab world will soon spread, exciting communist insurrection in western Europe and then jumping the Atlantic to the U.S.

Here's a clip of Glenn Beck telling Bill O'Reilly that discontent in Arab world will soon leap over the Mediterranean and excite communist insurrection in western Europe, then jump the Atlantic to the United States.

The exchange reminds me of an anecdote David Brooks told his colleagues at the Wall Street Journal in the fall of 1989. At the time, Brooks was editorial page editor of the Wall Street Journal Europe.

One day his great-aunt called him in great alarm. She had seen the TV images of protests and demonstrations across the Warsaw Pact countries and was concerned for the safety of David and his family. "Don't worry Grandma," David answered. "We live in Brussels, in Western Europe." David's great-aunt replied: "I know where you live. But what if the rebellions spread?"

That was supposed to be a funny story. Somebody please explain the joke to Fox News.
