White House Weighs in on Iran Sanctions
Laura Rozen reports on how the White House is weighing in on the Iranian sanctions working their way through congress:
Two days after the Obama administration celebrated passage of a new U.N. Iran sanctions resolution, some members of Congress -- including key Democrats -- are not showing much inclination to give the administration greater flexibility on the final version of Iran sanctions legislation.
Among the key issues in dispute is which countries should get waivers in the final bill, which negotiators from the House and Senate are currently working to reconcile. The administration is asking Congress for more flexibility, including waivers for countries that are taking their own vigorous measures to put pressure on the Iranian leadership over its nuclear program.
