Weiner Gym Photos Surface On TMZ
Congressman Anthony Weiner is under further pressure to resign after more lewd photographs, apparently taken using mirrors and his own mobile phone in the House of Representatives gym, were published on the Internet.
In several of the photographs, the New York congressman, sometimes clothed, sometimes almost nude, is thrown clutching his genitals. They were published by the TMZ website, which said they had been transmitted to at least one woman.
US Congressman Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the second most senior Democrat in the House, said that Mr Weiner's "bizarre and unacceptable behaviour" in texting inappropriate pictures of himself to young women made it "extraordinarily difficult" for him to remain in Congress.
Although not as graphic as the image of his erect penis which emerged last week, the latest pictures will fuel fears among his fellow Democrats that the scandal will continue and more revelations are likely.
At the weekend, Mr Weiner, 46, who is married to Huma Abedin, a long-time aide to Hillary Clinton, announced he was requesting a short leave of absence from Congress "to seek professional treatment to focus on becoming a better husband and healthier person".
This followed the news that police in New Castle, Delaware had interviewed a girl of 17 who received five private messages via Twitter from the congressman. He denied that any were explicit or inappropriate.
