Steele Will Join RNC Chair Debate
Politico reports:
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has agreed to debate the five challengers who want to take his job.
The Daily Caller, which is co-hosting the Jan. 3 debate with Americans for Tax Reform, reported Tuesday that Steele had signed on to take part in a discussion that will almost certainly become a chance for his opponents to weigh in on his controversial tenure. The debate will be at the National Press Club, moderated by Tucker Carlson, the website's editor, and Grover Norquist, president of ATR.
A group of conservatives on the RNC board has launched an "anybody but Steele" campaign to get voters to pledge not to vote for the one-term chairman, and other efforts are underway to get candidates to commit not to make deals with Steele.
