Rhee Invited to Work for New Jersey
The Washington Post reports:
Chancellor Michelle A. Rhee appeared to close the door on a possible appointment to New Jersey's top education post Wednesday, but then opened another by saying that her next job could be at a school district.
Rhee, who leaves her D.C. post at the end of the month, continued to decline to comment on whether she has been offered the job of New Jersey education commissioner. But she also told told The Wall Street Journal:
"I want to go where I will have the most impact and, to me, the most radical changes can happen at the local level. That's why I am strongly considering possibilities in other districts" outside Washington, D.C.
Rhee has consistently said that the D.C. schools job would be her first and last local superintendency. So, either she was misquoted, or she's had a change of heart.
The Star-Ledger of New Jersey reports this morning that outgoing D.C. schools Chancellor Michelle A. Rhee is "seriously considering" an offer from the governor to become state education chief.
