Reid to Ford: Drop Dead

Written by David Frum on Friday January 8, 2010

If Politico is correct Harry Reid personally attempted to shiv former House Rep. Harold Ford Jr.'s plans to contest Kirsten Gillibrand's nomination for the New York Senate seat.

I personally suspect that Harold Ford Jr.'s relatively conservative voting record as a member of the House of Representatives owed more (much more) to his ambition to represent Tennessee in the Senate than to personal conviction.

That said - if Politico is correct that Harry Reid personally attempted to shiv Ford's new project to contest Kirsten Gillibrand's nomination for the New York Senate seat - the mind speculates: with Rudy out and Lazio so unpromising, wouldn't it be fun to offer Ford the Republican line?
