Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid racked up the endorsements of two high-profile Nevada Republicans Thursday and Friday, a sign that the state’s GOP establishment remains at a distance from Republican Sharron Angle.

Dema Guinn, Nevada’s former first lady, and state Senate Minority Leader Bill Raggio, a venerable and canny operator in the Capitol, both announced their support for Reid within 24 hours of each other, offering fresh evidence that Angle has yet to fully consolidate support within her own party.

Dema Guinn, the widow of the late GOP Gov. Kenny Guinn, said today she supports Reid because of his “unwavering support for vital education programs,” along with “his tireless efforts to create new jobs and protect Nevada businesses from the unprecedented challenges we have faced during these trying economic times,” according to a statement provided to Las Vegas Sun columnist Jon Ralston.
