Rand Paul Opposed Budget Stopgap
Politico reports:
Freshman Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) didn’t try to block the short-term spending bill that averted a midnight government shutdown, but he didn’t go down quietly either.
Paul, who’s voted against previous stopgap measures, submitted a symbolic statement of opposition to the Congressional Record just after the Senate approved the bill by a voice vote.
“I voted against this short-term continuing resolution for the same reason I voted against the last one and the one before that – because it does not set us on a path to fixing the spending and debt problems our country is facing,” said Paul, a co-founder of the Senate Tea Party Caucus.
