Plouffe: No Chance Trump Wins in '12

Politico reports:

White House senior adviser David Plouffe slammed Donald Trump’s birther beliefs on Sunday, saying that the recent publicity he has garnered has been a “side show” and indicated that Trump’s rise in Republican polls could be good for President Barack Obama in 2012.

“I saw Donald Trump kind of rising in the polls. Given his behavior, and the spectacle of the last couple of weeks, I hope he keeps on rising,” Plouffe said on ABC’s “This Week.” “There’s zero chance that Donald Trump would ever be hired by the American people to do this job.”

Plouffe said that he does not think that Trump, or the issue of Obama’s birth would impact the 2012 presidential election because the American people are focused on issues like the economy and national security.

“There may be a small part of the country that believes these things, but mainstream Americans think it’s a side show,” Plouffe said. “That’s not leadership, that’s a kind of a sideshow behavior.”
