Politico reports:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, stopped short of endorsing Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s budget plan to end collective bargaining for most public unions Friday morning.

Martin O’Malley, chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, on a POLITICO panel at Hotel Dupont to kick off the National Governors Association meeting, Perry refused to wade in too deep into the firestorm that has created a stalemate in Madison and captivated the country.

Perry would only that Walker, “knows what he believes in and he’s expressing that and the voters in Wisconsin have said this is the person we want.”
