Paterson to Meet with Mosque Developers
Maggie Haberman has been told by staffers of Rep. Pete King that Governor David Paterson of New York will be meeting with the Cordoba Institute developers:
Rep. Pete King's camp tells me he spoke with Gov. David Paterson this morning and that the governor said he is meeting later this week with the developer and leader of the Ground Zero-area mosque project to discuss the possibility of moving it to an alternate site.
Paterson rang King because the congressman did a radio spot with WOR's John Gambling in which he indicated that the governor's push for an alternate location made the most sense, the aide said.
The aide that it was unclear how the mosque developers would feel about the governor's attempts.
Paterson spokesman Morgan Hook, battered while on vacation, tells POLITICO, "We are working with the developers on a staff level but there have not been any formal discussions between the governor and Imam or developer. However, we expect to have a meeting scheduled in the near future."
A meeting being scheduled this week would be an actual development in the story. Other than that, much of this has been said already.
