If Sarah Palin is not planning to run in 2012, then her decision to endorse former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad in the current Iowa gubernatorial battle does not make a whole lot of sense.

If Sarah Palin is not planning to run in 2012, then her decision to endorse former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad in the current Iowa gubernatorial battle does not make a whole lot of sense.  This em>Des Moines Register poll< shows Branstad way ahead of all other candidates in the race for the GOP nomination.  The poll also shows Branstad winning 57% of primary voters, with opponents Bob Vander Plaats and Rod Roberts winning only 29% and 8% respectively.

As this video shows, Branstad was visibly surprised at Palin’s decision to endorse him, especially given that Palin has never even met him.

Why the change of heart?  Sure seems that Sarah Palin is trying to make some important friends before the Iowa Caucuses roll around.
