Palin Blames Obama for WikiLeaks

The Wall Street Journal reports:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin pointed a finger at her favorite political foil, President Barack Obama, on Monday following the release of the latest cachet of classified documents from WikiLeaks.

“The latest round of classified U.S. documents through the shady organization called Wikileaks raises serious questions about the Obama administration’s incompetent handling of this whole fiasco, ” Ms. Palin wrote on her Facebook page Monday.

Ms. Palin calls WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange “an anti-American operative with blood on his hands.” The WikiLeaks website released more than 250,000 State Department cables that have shed rare light on diplomatic back channels.

Ms. Palin, who is weighing a 2012 run for president, is trying to bolster her foreign-policy bona fides – and gloss over bumbles like briefly confusing North and South Korea last week on Glenn Beck’s radio show. In her Facebook posting, she questions how a “22-year-old private first class could get unrestricted access to so much highly sensitive information” and “copy and distribute these files without anyone noticing that security was compromised.” That’s a reference to Army intelligence analyst Pfc. Bradley Manning, who is now in custody and charged with taking secret State Department files and disseminating a classified video while working in army intelligence in Iraq.

The former Alaska governor and the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee also asks why the U.S. didn’t “use all the cyber tools at our disposal to permanently dismantle Wikileaks” or push allies in Europe to do it.

“Shouldn’t they at least have had their financial assets frozen just as we do to individuals who provide material support for terrorist organizations?” she asked in the Facebook post.
