Obama's Speech Lacks Specific Plan

Politico notes that President Obama's address on the BP oil spill lacked details about what sort of energy legislation he hoped to receive from Congress:

“The consequences of our inaction are now in plain sight,” Obama said in the first Oval Office address of his presidency. “The tragedy unfolding on our coast is the most painful and powerful reminder yet that the time to embrace a clean energy future is now. Now is the moment for this generation to embark on a national mission to unleash American innovation and seize control of our own destiny.”

Obama offered no details of his own plan for achieving energy independence, and few guideposts for what he would like to see in comprehensive energy legislation in Congress – a notable lack of details that seems sure to disappoint environmentalists hoping for more from a prime-time address.
