Politico reports:

President Obama enjoys a 54 percent approval rating, according to a poll published Monday.

In the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey conducted while Obama was in Europe last week, 45 percent of people said they don’t approve of Obama’s job. The difference is greater than in early April, when 48 percent said they approved and 50 percent said they didn’t.

Obama’s approval rating has been rising since then, the poll indicates: It stood at 51 percent in late April and at 52 percent in early May.

The poll, which asked about Obama’s job on 11 issues, showed that his approval rating was higher than 50 percent on just three items: terrorism (65 percent), Afghanistan (55 percent) and Iraq (54 percent).

His four weakest areas were gas prices (25 percent), the deficit (34 percent), health care (40 percent) and the economy (41 percent).

The poll of 1,007 people from May 24 to May 26 has a margin of error of 3 percent.
