Obama To Host Deficit Talks
Politico reports:
President Obama announced Tuesday that he’s asked members of Congress to come to the White House on Thursday to work out a deal on the deficit.
Obama said he invited members of both parties in the House and in the Senate, but he didn’t say who specifically was invited. The negotiators, he said, must “come together over the next two weeks.”
“I don't want to fool anybody,” Obama told reporters in the White House’s briefing room. “We still have to work through some real differences.”
He added that “this should not come down to the last second.”
