When Being Pro-Life Isn't Enough

Written by Jeb Golinkin on Tuesday July 6, 2010

A pro-life organization has attacked pro-life GOP Washington Senate candidate Dino Rossi for… wait for it… favoring an exception for rape or incest.

Two candidates can win Patty Murray's Senate seat. One is Patty Murray. The other is Republican Dino Rossi. This reality didn't stop Sarah Palin from endorsing candidate Clint Didier. It also isn't stopping an organization called the Washington Life Coalition from mounting an attack ad that blasts Rossi for… wait for it… favoring a rape and incest exception to a pro-life policy.

The ad speaks of a child named Emily who just wants what every other little girl wants – only she is to be executed because her father has been “accused of rape”

Washington Life Coalition seems to have discovered a new angle in the abortion debate: Pro-life, pro-rapist.

Washington Life Coalition has not publicly endorsed a Republican alternative to Rossi, but presumably they favor either Palin-backed Didier or another conservative “longshot” Paul Akers. Neither have any money. Patty Murray has lots. Neither has name recognition.  Patty Murray has lots.  All credible polls show her knocking off both "longshots" easily.

So maybe the real answer to the question "Who is Washington Life Coalition backing?" is… Patty Murray.
