Murkowski Might Announce Write-In Campaign on Friday

Politico reports:

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski will announce Friday whether she will mount a write-in campaign as a last resort to stay in the race and have a shot at keeping her seat.

Murkowski will announce her decision more than two weeks after she conceded the GOP primary to attorney Joe Miller following one of the biggest upsets in Alaskan political history.

Since her surprising loss last month, Murkowski has openly been considering her options to stay in the race, including running as a third-party candidate or as a write-in candidate. She ruled out one of those options - running under the Libertarian Party banner - in a Tuesday statement from her campaign, leaving only one way to remain in contention if she pursues that option.

"I recognize that not seeking the Libertarian's position on the ballot leaves me with the more difficult task of running a write-in campaign should I decide to continue in the race," Murkowski said in the statement. "I will continue to seek advice from my fellow Alaskans about what is best for the state's future and announce a decision by Friday."
