Murdochs Called Before Parliament

Politico reports:

Rupert and James Murdoch on Tuesday were called to appear before British Parliament next week to answer questions about the actions of their newspapers in the phone hacking scandal.

The summoning from Parliament’s Culture, Media and Sport Committee, which was also extended to Rebekah Brooks, the CEO of News Corp.’s British newspaper division known as News International, is not binding but will increase the growing public pressure on the company.

The Murdochs and Brooks have been asked to appear before the committee July 19.

There was no immediate word from News Corp. about whether the Murdochs and Brooks would appear.
