Mullen: US Has Iran Attack Plan

Admiral Mullen recently stated that the US does have a plan to attack Iran if it needs to:

Comments by Adm Mike Mullen, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, sparked an angry reaction from Iran, which promised a “firm response” to US military action that would “endanger the security of the region”.

The admiral did not elaborate on the plan, and was quick to say that a military strike could have “unintended consequences that are difficult to predict in what is an incredibly unstable part of the world”.

His choice of words marked a change from the normal formulation used by US leaders to questions about attacking Iran, which is “all options are on the table”.

Asked if the military had a plan to strike Iran, Adm Mullen had replied: “We do”, and added: “I hope we don’t get to that, but it’s an important option and it’s one that’s well understood.”
