Mullen Backs Drawdown
Politico reports:
The nation’s top military officer admitted Thursday that he initially was not fully comfortable with President Barack Obama’s Afghanistan troop withdrawal plan, but said he is now fully on board.
“The president’s decisions are more aggressive and incur more risk than I was originally prepared to accept,” Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the House Armed Services Committee.
But Mullen insisted he, along with Afghan commander Gen. David Petraeus and Central Command chief Gen. James Mattis, now fully support Obama’s decision.
