Mona Charen Wins Eric Breindel Award
Columnist Mona Charen won the Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Journalism, an annual prize named after a former New York Post columnist and editorial-page editor.
Ms. Charen writes a syndicated column and spent six years as a commentator on CNN's "Capital Gang." She authored the bestseller "Do-Gooders: How Liberals Hurt Those They Claim to Help—and the Rest of Us," and previously served as Nancy Reagan's speechwriter, among other roles at the White House.
The $20,000 award is given to the writer whose work reflects "love of country and its democratic institutions, as well as the act of bearing witness to the evils of totalitarianism." Issued by the Eric Breindel Foundation, it is sponsored by News Corp., which owns the New York Post and The Wall Street Journal.
