McConnell Will Push Senate Repeal Vote
The Washington Post reports:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) pledged Sunday that the Senate would vote on a repeal of the national health care overhaul following the House's passage of repeal legislation last week.
"I'm not going to discuss how we're going to do it from a parliamentary point of view here, but it's very hard to deny people votes in the Senate, and I assure you we'll have a vote on repeal," McConnell said during an appearance on "Fox News Sunday."
McConnell acknowledged that few Republicans are optimistic that repeal would pass the Senate, noting that only three House Democratsjoined with Republicans in backing repeal last week. But he added that he's "perplexed" Democrats wouldn't want to hold a vote on one of their signature legislative agenda items.
"I don't know why the Democrats don't want to vote on it," McConnell said. "They're proud of it. They think it's one of the most important things that they've done for the country."
