McConnell Invites Obama to Capitol
The Associated Press reports:
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is inviting President Barack Obama to the Capitol to hear first-hand why his proposed tax increases will not pass.
In remarks on the Senate floor, McConnell said the invitation is good for lunch on Thursday, or any time this afternoon that Obama can make it.
The Kentucky lawmaker made his comments a day after the president said at a news conference that tax increases on the wealthy, oil companies and others must be part of any deal to reduce the deficit and clear the way for raising the nation's debt limit.
