McConnell: Dem Plan is to Do Nothing
The Hill reports:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Monday accused Democrats of planning to do nothing about the nation’s financial woes while they prepare for the 2012 elections.
"They run the White House and they run the Senate, and yet their entire approach is to sit back and wait," said McConnell. "No budget, no plans. Just wait for the next election.
" 'Let the Republicans offer solutions and then we'll attack them,' " said McConnell. " 'Pretend you care about jobs.' That’s the plan."
McConnell appeared to be alluding to the fact that congressional Democrats have yet to offer a substantial budget plan of their own for fiscal 2012.
Instead, Democratic leadership plans to call up a non-controversial bill this week to fund the Economic Development Administration (EDA), which it says will help create jobs.
"There is no excuse for inaction, and that is why Republicans refuse to sit back and wait," concluded McConnell.
