McConnell and Paul Hold Tense "Unity Rally"

Politico reports on the tense "unity rally" held in Kentucky and attended by Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell:

It was a “party unity” rally and the Republicans who lined up to speak just down the street from the state capitol at the state GOP headquarters here all did their best to speak in the spirit of harmony.

None of the Republican officials mentioned Paul’s string of nationally-televised verbal miscues this week and the candidate, trying to stay out of the headlines, didn’t hurl any thunder bolts toward the political establishment as he did on Election Night.

But the forced marriage between the most prominent face of the national conservative insurgency and the GOP’s old guard is plainly still a work in progress.
