McCain: "No Excuse" For Steele's Afghanistan Remarks
Senator John McCain has come out strongly against RNC Chairman Michael Steele's remarks about the Afghan war:
In an EXCLUSIVE interview on “This Week,” Senator John McCain, R-Ariz., slammed RNC Chairman Michael Steele for saying that the war in Afghanistan was one of President Obama’s choosing, but stopped short of calling for his resignation.
“I think those statements are wildly inaccurate and there is no excuse for them,” McCain told host Jake Tapper from Kabul, Afghanistan.
“Chairman Steele sent me an email saying that his remarks were misconstrued,” he said. “I think that Mr. Steele is going to have to assess as to whether he can still lead the Republican Party as chairman of the Republican National Committee.”
