Liveblogging the RNC Rules Committee Meeting
The rules committee meeting wraps up with Bruce Ash as the new chairman.
This could be crucial in the coming years, because rules committee members determine the procedure for selecting the delegates who will choose the party's next presidential nominee.

Might I add that Greer was pushed out by Rubio supporters in Florida.
Weak applause in the room when the acting chair thanks Greer.
Some chatter here about Greer's unpopularity in the RNC, for being too "draconian", that he tried to kick Rubio supporters out of the party, and turned off GOP donors as a result.

Rules Committee starting. It's announced that Jim Greer, chair for Florida, has resigned from his chairmanship of the rules committee.
Greer recently resigned from his position as Florida GOP chair, effective Feb 20. Since that is not for several weeks, there was some doubt as to whether Greer would attend the RNC winter meeting.

RNC staff are telling FrumForum that they don't expect the purity test to make it to the rules committee, which begins deliberation in about twenty minutes.
This means that Chief Sponsor Jim Bopp either intends to bring it to the floor without amendments, or will choose to withdraw the purity test resolution entirely.
If Bopp had chosen to put his resolution through the rules committee, it would undoubtedly have been amended and watered down. However, this process would have garnered the proposal with more support.
Stay tuned. I'll be in the rules committee watching developments.
