Is Crist's Political Career Over?

Written by Jeb Golinkin on Tuesday March 9, 2010

A new poll finds that amongst Florida Republican primary voters, 56% want Governor Charlie Crist out of elected office entirely.

Bye bye, Charlie Crist.

Public Policy Polling's website reports that later today, they are going to release “absolutely brutal numbers” on Charlie Crist. Apparently, the poll finds that amongst polled Florida Republican primary voters, 19% would like him to still be Governor a year from now, 14% hope he will be their senator, and, get this, 56% wanted him out of elected office entirely.

As a Crist fan, I'm sorry to see that he has fallen so far in the graces of Florida Republicans....but deserved or not, there ain't a hell of a lot of ambiguity in these numbers. Charlie Crist's career as a Florida Republican, maybe as a Republican period, is over.  End of story.  Crist simply cannot win as a Republican. If Crist ever serves Florida again, it will be as an independent or as a Democrat. More likely though, Charlie Crist's political career is over.

Sorry, Charlie. You served Florida voters well, but the speaking circuit beckons...
