Inglis Manages to Force Runoff in SC-4
Politico reports that GOP Rep. Bob Inglis is headed to a runoff in South Carolina's fourth congressional district.
Battered by accusations that he no longer fits the conservative mold of his upstate South Carolina district, GOP Rep. Bob Inglis found his six-term House career hanging by a thread Tuesday.
In a sharp rebuke from the voters he has represented for six terms, Inglis was forced into a June 22 runoff against Spartanburg County Solicitor Trey Gowdy. With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Gowdy led Inglis 39 percent to 27 percent – an ominous result for Inglis that spells peril for him in the final weeks of the race.
