Hamas Sentences 'Collaborator' to Death

On Monday, a Gaza military court convicted three men of allegedly ‘collaborating’ with Israel, sentencing one to death and the others to prison.

According to the Hamas Interior Ministry, on Monday a Gaza military court convicted three men of allegedly ‘collaborating’ with Israel, sentencing one to death and two more to prison terms.

In April of this year, Hamas also executed two alleged ‘collaborators’. According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), in the last two years, Hamas has killed at least 32 alleged informers and political opponents, with at least a further 14 sentenced to death and many dozen more Palestinians being maimed.

In a report by HRW in April 2009, titled “Under Cover of War: Hamas Political Violence in Gaza”, HRW documented a pattern since late December 2008 of arbitrary arrests and detentions, torture, maimings by shooting and extrajudicial executions by Hamas.

While Hamas slams the leadership of the PLO and the Palestinian Authority for talking with the Israelis and routinely executes and maims Palestinian ‘collaborators’ and ‘political opponents’, what will they do then to those who wish to make peace with Israel?
