GOP Candidate Turns Down Romney's Endorsement

The State Column reports:

It seems a Mitt Romney endorsement is not what is used to be.

At least that is the case in Alabama.

On Friday, Alabama Republican governor candidate Robert Bentley turned down and endorsement from the former presidential candidate.

The Birmingham News reported that Mr.  Bentley turned down the endorsement. A spokeswoman for Bentley, Rebekah Mason, said Friday that Bentley wanted to concentrate on the race for governor and did not want to give the impression that he was endorsing anyone in the 2012 presidential race.

Mr. Romney has made a point of endorsing candidates as he likely prepares for 2012 presidential run. The Republican has faced competition in the field of endorsements. Lately, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has endorsed a number of unlikely candidates only to see them gain national support and popularity.
