Frum: "We Have To Use Our Heads"

"We're facing now the threat of the largest expansion of government since the New Deal. And if you're a conservative and a Republican, you want to restrain this. But at exactly this moment, we have to use our heads. We have to keep our wits about us. And there is a mood of emotionalism, of reliance on pretend information that is absolutely detrimental to effective politics.

And what we're hearing right now from a lot of people are our fantasies, delusions, things that can't work. And that means -- that opens the way to an easy run for Democratic and liberal success to expand government. We saw the catastrophic result of that with passage of this health care bill. I think that is not an effective way to proceed. I'm a competitor. I want to win."
