FroshUpdate: YouCut Program Handed to Freshmen

Written by Tim Mak on Wednesday May 11, 2011

This morning the popular YouCut program will be handed over to freshmen Reps, in an effort to show how seriously leadership takes the class. Elsewhere, a Rep. Kinzinger drive to call on the president to end ‘MediSCARE’ tactics nets 41 freshmen signatories.

And while Paul Gosar receives an award for dialoguing with his constituents, Joe Heck is rewarded with an interesting profile on his role on an intelligence subcommittee. This is FroshUpdate for May 11, 2011.

YOUCUT TO FRESHMEN: Eric Cantor will announce today that the GOP leadership is passing off its YouCut program to its freshmen. Freshmen Reps. FRESHMEN: END ‘MEDISCARE’: In an attempt to protest Democrats' rhetoric on Medicare, Rep. Adam Kinzinger sent a letter to the White House, signed by 41 other freshmen, "calling on President Obama to end the 'MediSCARE' tactics." http://politi.co/jEQ3Bx

HECK’S INTELLIGENCE ROLE SPOTLIGHT: Joe Heck’s role on subcommittee for Technical and Tactical Intelligence, which monitors the government’s satellite operations, gets profiled. Las Vegas Sun: He “bone[s] up on the network of military, intelligence and commercial satellites, figure[s] out how to improve government-private sector cooperation, and figure[s] out how to update the fleet but also cut costs.”
