ABC News reports:

Monday we examined the strong>perils of blizzards for politicians<. New Jersey Lt. Governor, Republican Kim Guadagno went on vacation at the same time as her boss, Lt. Governor Chris Christie. The snow storm hit and the Democratic leader of the State Senate was temporarily in charge.

Other mayors have felt the ire of voters after botching the response to storm. But not Cory Booker, the Newark Democrat. He’s taking plow requests via twitter, and in some cases, apparently, getting out and digging around cars himself.

“Just doug a car out on Springfield Ave and broke the cardinal rule: "Lift with your Knees!!" I think I left part of my back back there,” wrote @corybooker on Monday night.

In other instances he’s gotten into the neighborhood of a stranded person and asked them to send a private direct message with their phone number so he could come help.

One person Booker helped happened to be a local rap artist with more than 12,000 followers.

@NEAKO tweeted: “I had the mayor in my crib, helped out my neighborhood..& He's aware of my movement..? Good night after all.”

In another instance, Booker kept followers up to date on a carjacking he had tweeted about Monday.

“Way to go Nwk Police! We just caught Carjacker from last night! I so appreciate your work out there. More work 2 do. Let's keep fighting!,” said Booker Tuesday.

Booker has more than a million followers on Twitter - making him one of  the most followed politicians in the US. Newark has about a quarter the population of Booker's Twitter account.

Some of the comments he has gotten on the feed are more frustrated than others.

AT one point, Booker responded to a message: “I will address both issues" after someone called @SWEETNGOLD347 tweeted: “Irving Ave has not been plowed and these people at Newark sanitation are rude over the phone.”
