Never let it be said that American financial firms aren't doing their part to build global goodwill toward the United States.

The Jakarta Post reports that local police say three debt collectors working on behalf of Citibank killed an Indonesian political figure after he protested a higher-than-expected credit card bill today.

"The motive of the murder is due to debt [issues], a credit card bill that didn't fit [the previously given figure]," a Jakarta police detective said.

Police said the victim went to a Citibank branch to pay what he expected to be a credit card bill of around $5,500, but was told that the bill had grown to $11,500.

The three debt collectors, angered by the victim's protest, attacked and killed him, police said, adding that forensic results show broken blood vessels in the victim's brain.
