Cindy McCain: 'I Back John's Stance on DADT'
The New York Daily News reports:
Cindy McCain announced that she is against the repeal of "Don't ask, don't tell" one day after she appeared in a video where she lends her support to end the ban on gays openly serving in the military.
Earlier this week, the former Presidential candidate's wife appeared in a video campaign for the group NOH8 railing on the United States' controversial military policy – a policy that her husband supports.
"Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future ... They can't serve our country openly," she said on the video.
NOH8 videographer Adam Bouska told ABC News that the statement was part of a script that all participants in the video read.
Showing Cindy McCain read that part of the script, helped to "make it as powerful as we can and as effective as we can," he said.
Cindy McCain seemed to have no problem with the cut of her reading that part of the script being featured so prominently after the video was released.
But on Friday night, she appeared to have a change of heart – at least on Twitter.
"I fully support the NOH8 campaign and all it stands for and am proud to be a part of it. But I stand by my husband's stance on DADT," she tweeted.
