Christmas Bomber Didn't Act Alone
The Detroit Free Press reports:
A Nigerian man accused of trying to detonate a bomb aboard a Detroit-bound jetliner on Christmas Day 2009 was indicted today on federal terrorism charges.
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, 24, has previously been charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction when he allegedly tried to detonate a bomb in his underwear as the aircraft approached Detroit Metro Airport.
The new charge of conspiracy to commit an act of terrorism, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison, says he acted in concert with others whose names are known and unknown to the federal grand jury.
The indictment said he traveled to Yemen to get involved in violent jihad on behalf of Al Qaeda, practiced detonating a bomb similar to the one he used in the Christmas Day incident and later received a bomb for the mission.
