Cheney and Gillespie Back Cino in RNC Race
Former Vice President Dick Cheney and GOP strategists Ed Gillespie and Mary Matalin will host a fundraiser for RNC Chair challenger Maria Cino.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney and Republican strategists Ed Gillespie and Mary Matalin will host a fundraiser for Maria Cino in Washington, D.C. next week in anticipation of a bid for the RNC Chairmanship.
The event, which will occur on Tuesday, December 7 at the home of Mary Matalin, will be for the benefit of Cino’s 527 – Maria for Chairman.
"Maria appreciates the support and encouragement she's receiving as she continues to move toward a candidacy. Maria has a long history with the GOP that includes serving as deputy chair of RNC and executive director of the NRCC, among other roles," said a spokesperson for the group working with Maria Cino to explore a bid.
As earlier reported, Cino has not officially announced a bid for the RNC chairmanship and will not be attending the National Republican Conservative Caucus’ candidates forum this afternoon. However, FrumForum has learned that Cino will be attending the Caucus’ private meeting with potential candidates Thursday.
