Brown Vetoes His Own Party's Budget
Mercury News reports:
Gov. Jerry Brown on Thursday vetoed the budget sent to him by his own party, criticizing it for containing the very gimmicks he said he wanted to avoid.
"We can -- and must -- do better, " Brown said in a YouTube message he posted Thursday morning.
The budget continues big deficits for years to come and adds billions of dollars in new debt, Brown said, as well as legally questionable maneuvers, costly borrowing and unrealistic savings.
